Yaffat elNassera
The village of Yaffat el-Nassera is located in the margins of the Galilee, bordering Emek Israel, Nazareth, and Migdal Ha’emek. It includes more than 17,000 residents.
The activities of the Learning Community are conducted in the Marach el-Ghouzlan neighborhood, which includes about 4,000 residents and borders the neighborhoods of Manzal el-Noor and el-Wadi el-Charegy.
The age of children in the Learning Community ranges from nine to thirteen. 17 university students work as tutors in the community. They are responsible for organizing and running daily activities in the Learning Community as well as building and running Community Action Days—community wide events, which are consistently attended by large numbers of children and their mothers. The students also participate in learning seminars relevant to the educational, social, political and economical context in which they work, live, and study.
Learning Community activities are conducted at Elementary School B during 4 days every week. As part of the framework of the activities, every day we emphasize different enrichment subject such as the Arab literature, art and history of nations, the Nakba, health and environment, maturation, and life qualifications.
Similarly, a Steering Committee is active in the community. It helps guide the direction that the coordinator’s activities take, and gathers every two weeks for updates and posting goals. The women’s group is also active – they meet once every two weeks and deals with self and group empowerment, children’s education, raising awareness, and more.
If you want to participate, please contact Hanan, the community coordinator – 054-7608120.
